FBI reports mixed crime changes in first half year

The FBI’s six month uniform crime statistics show violent crimes up 4 percent from last year with a 9 percent rise in murder and smaller increases in rape robbery and aggravated assault. Property crimes fall 2 percent nationwide offsetting the violent rise and yielding a net 1 percent decline.
