The pennant race narrows as Cincinnati holds a two game magic number. A Reds win at Chicago or Dodgers loss elsewhere could seal the NL title. Cincinnati rests until a three game set at Pittsburgh after Chicago.
A four engine Astrojet 707 carrying 71 persons skidded off a runway and plunged into shallow water in the Boston harbor Sunday. Rescue teams searched the wreckage and pilots reported all aboard were accounted for after the incident.
A cold front from the Great Lakes will bring thunderstorms and cooler air to Ohio tonight. Middletown saw a 91 degree high yesterday with a 63 degree low this morning and .13 inches of rain by 8 am. Three servicemen died and 12 were injured including six skydivers. Rescue crews evacuated victims as helicopters attended the burning wreckage. The incident followed a plane stall at about 100 feet with pilot Capt Markel attempting to regain speed.

The Civil Rights Commission urged the President and Congress to accelerate school desegregation nationwide. It proposed that every local school board with segregated schools file a federal desegregation plan within six months and begin steps toward full compliance by the next school year. One member dissented on a plan to withhold up to 50 percent of federal education grants until nondiscriminatory operation is achieved.
