Turf farmer wins government relief for Batavia Turf Farms
A New York turf grower, Anthony L. Peca of Batavia, saw House passage of a private bill granting $200,000 relief for losses from the Golden Nematode quarantine. He lobbied Carter administration officials and NY delegation, arguing sod growers were unfairly excluded from the law. The measure awaits Senate action as Peca vows to prove his case and defend the concept of individual support.
