Line Vote On Machines Is Upheld
The 10th District Court of Appeals ruled the straight-line voting on machines constitutional under the last Legislature. Judges Duffy and Bryant decided against Franklin County Board of Elections and Secretary of State Brown in a case brought by Max Graf, who argued the law violates a 1949 amendment and only affects machine ballots. The provision lets a voter select all of one party's candidates in a single line.
