Dole assails Carter in Ohio campaign stop
Sen. Robert Dole urged Carter to stop giving interviews and argued Mondale’s liberal record would hurt Carter in the South and crucial states. He claimed Carter would burden middle earners with taxes under a reform plan, while denying the charge as political distortion. He pressed for a debate in the South and mocked Mondale by linking him to AFL-CIO leader Meany.
