Reggie Finkelman’s oil painting Plain Jane earned Best of Show at the Middletown Fine Arts Center Area Art Show opening in the Arts In Middletown building. First prize in multiple media, prize money, and a tuition free eight week course were awarded. 203 works by 82 artists were submitted from within 50 miles.

Judge Cramer Hospitalized After Chest Pain
Butler County Common Pleas Judge Fred B. Cramer aged 72 at 206 Aberdeen Drive was reported in fair condition today at Kettering Medical Center. He was admitted to the ICU yesterday for observation after his wife said he suffered chest pains.

Firefighters found a car engulfed in flames at 3:30 a.m. at Kenneth Frye’s home 1288 Middletown-Eaton Road. Frye said the car belonged to his daughter Brenda Guenther of 310 Maple Ave. Trenton. A gas can found nearby is being investigated as a possible outside involvement. Damage estimated at $1500 overall.

Vernon Lawrence Jr., 47, of McGehee Arkansas, was killed when his single engine Cessna 210 crashed while landing in fog at Hamilton airport around 1 am Sunday. FAA investigators probe the wreck as police report he crawled from the plane but was found slumped over the fuselage. Lawrence had worked for Proctor & Gamble in Cincinnati and recently joined a Greenville firm, visiting two daughters near Cincinnati.
