Outage sparks near midair close calls across the West
West region flights faced a radio blackout after an FAA center outage in Palmdale caused undirected air traffic control. Five near midair close calls were reported as pilots and controllers could not communicate. Two flights nearly collided and three workers filed injury claims from the stress and visuals.
