Batavia Ohio AP Ear Serbu state examiner testified that 57000 dollars of delinquent taxes collected while county treasurer John P Friend Jr were never reported to the county auditor. Serbu’s analysis led to Friend’s indictment for embezzling 47592 dollars. Mrs Dorothy O Neill former chief deputy testified delay in reporting was known in the treasurer office and to lawyers. Tax credit slips for about 9000 dollars disappeared from a cash drawer before Serby audit. Samuel Morse was a portrait painter before Morse code.
