Police and firemen accepted a package after a five day strike. They gain immediate $26 a month plus $74 more monthly if a city income tax increase passes at a December 1 special election. Judge Rigelhaupt oversaw talks with city officials.
U S Navy planes struck four targets in Haiphong including two main bridges and the rail yard, while a nearby warehouse area took shelling. Jet carriers Coral Sea and Oriskany led the raid as antiaircraft and missiles replied. no losses reported on the Haiphong mission.
