Maine hotel blaze kills four at aging Bath building

In Bath Maine early Sunday a blaze tore through the Hotel Sedgewick a three story rambling structure. Four people died and other guests fled into the streets or jumped from upper floor windows as flames engulfed the building. A hotel employee alerted authorities. Witnesses described a sheet of flame and a rapid spread.

Lukens challenges late personal expense filing in Ohio race

Lukens seeks to overturn Ohio’s law penalizing late personal expense disclosures and to be declared eligible for the 1974 U S Senate race. He asks the court to void the statute, hoping to run for governor later. Secretary of State Brown rejected him Feb 2 for a 12 day late filing from 1972. The Ohio Supreme Court upheld the ruling. Lukens' own report showed no money in or out. Funds were routed through Lukens for State Senator Committee which filed on time.
