Navy commanders face court martial over Evans Melbourne collision
Cmdr. Albert S. McLemore, 40, Vallejo California, and Lt. (J.G.) Ronald C. Ramsey, 24, Long Beach California, must stand trial on charges of negligence and dereliction of duty for their roles in the destroyer Frank E. Evans collision with the Australian carrier Melbourne. Seventy four sailors died in the disaster. McLemore commanded the Evans and Ramsey was the deck officer.
