U S and South Vietnamese forces repelled repeated Viet Cong assaults on Loc Ninh and the nearby Special Forces camp 72 miles north of Saigon. The clash left 11 American and 12 Vietnamese dead with dozens wounded as fighting tapered off after heavy shelling and air power.
A mother and daughter were killed yesterday when their car was struck by a passenger train at a crossing in Independence Missouri. The bodies of Mrs. Donna Jean were recovered at the scene.
A fifth shell missed its target and wounded three people outside during a Thieu administration meeting. A 61mm mortar tube and related equipment were reported as part of the attack, underscoring ongoing hostilities.
