Couple Seeks Adoption Defying Agency Age Rules
A Cuyahoga County Probate Court judge will rule after November 17 on whether aging couple Charles and Mrs Haun can adopt Julie Sheila, a girl they have cared for since infancy. The Children's Service Agency opposes adoption due to age limits, arguing state law requires agency consent. The Hauns, who have fostered 33 children over 19 years, say Julie’s best interests require adoption by them, while agency officials insist age restrictions are binding.
