Voters in Middletown face a 2.7 mill levy for the district in the November 4 election while four candidates seek one seat on the Miami Township Board of Trustees. State Issue 6 would change ballot name rotation rules.
Madrid reports General Francisco Franco, aged 82, endured heart attacks and gastric bleeding with intestinal hemorrhaging under control and heart irregularities easing though signs of heart failure persisted. Doctors said he slept well and his condition slightly improved as crowds gathered outside the Pardo Palace awaiting further news.
Two single engine planes collided midair near Salem Airport in Wastenaw County. Two were killed and two injured. one pilot’s identity withheld. Arthur Rogers 52 of Livonia died in the Cessna 172. Beverly Rogers 21 and Jack Marr 53 were hospitalized. The Rogers plane’s origin was unknown.
