Monroe 3 Deer Park 2 in double OT boys soccer

Nolan Phelps scored with 5:35 left in the second overtime to lift unseeded Monroe to a 3-2 win over Cincinnati Deer Park in the Division III tournament. Gabbard had two early goals, Deer Park forced a late comeback, and Monroe advances to play Cincinnati Madeira at Mariemont Stadium.

RedHawks honor Davidge at Miami tennis tribute

Miami University remembered Leann Davidge twenty years after a fatal snowstorm crash returning from Dayton Airport that affected recruits for the RedHawk tennis program. Fifteen former players traveled from Maine, North Carolina and Pennsylvania for the tribute and luncheon. A $2,500 endowment gift was presented during a football game intermission to support tennis scholarships. Elsewhere, Evan Sparks of Edgewood High debuted for Cincinnati Bearcats, rushing four times for 14 yards in the Memphis game.

Officials Hall Inducts Hartman Rossi in Middletown

Jim Hartman and John Butch Rossi were named 2004 inductees into the Middletown Basketball Officials Association Hall of Fame. The 12th annual dinner banquet is set for November 14 at the Manchester Inn in Middletown.
