Ohio cattle numbers may drop next year

Wallace Barr of Ohio State University estimates a slight decline in Ohio cattle numbers for next year. He noted July beef cows calved rose 3 percent, dairy cows steady, but beef heifers for herd replacement fell 7 percent, with marketing increasing late year aided by drought and low prices. He expects fed cattle prices to ease in late 1976 due to higher slaughter and larger marketings.
