Middletown High drops 74 to 6 to Lima in a Greater Ohio League clash before 6 000 fans at Barnitz Stadium. A late two point attempt failed after a McCluskey one yard sneak. Cooper scores twice for Lima as Spartan defense holds off Middies despite fumbles and drops.
Dayton special: Hara Arena hosts five wrestling matches starting at 8 pm. Main event features Iron Mike Irvin and Handsome Mickey Marino versus Jules Speed LaRance and Hubert Holley. Semi final has Duke Kokeney against Chief War Cloud. Mary Hillis faces Elaine Ellis in a ladies bout. There are two preliminary matches The Mummy versus Man Mountain Mazurky and Carey St Charles versus Prince Pullen.
Madison High upset Franklin High 12-8 to seize second in the Mid Miami League. Mohawks under coach Al Kein trailed 8-6 but rallied late as Gary Trenan, Jay Miller and Kas Ogonowski led a decisive fourth quarter drive. Franklin’s Berutti and Lawson moved the ball late, but a fumble recovery by Trenan sealed the upset and Madison’s fifth win in six games.
Talawanda beat Monroe 34-18 as three late touchdowns in 12 seconds decided the game. Bill Swift led the Braves with 26 points and 106 season total, lifting them to sole possession of first in the Mid Miami League. Monroes Dan Sewell connected for big plays, but the late surge secured Talawanda victory.
Lebanon Warriors edge Xenia Woodrow Wilson 22-20 to improve to 3-3-1 as Steve Nickell scores two touchdowns and Combs seals the win with the extra point after the final TD.
