One More Week Civic Drive Extended by One Week
The 1961 Civic Association Non- Member Canvass extended a week with $18,900 raised toward a $25,000 goal. Divisions show $15,008 industry, $845 neighborhood, $2,007 government, and $1,040 retail and service. Last year’s third week totaled $19,499. Plaques for 100 percent membership go to Spring Hill School and seven city departments. Final report planned next Wednesday as captains finish reports. Membership stands at 1,676 of 2,100.

Station To Go At Lorillard In Middletown
Tex as Refining Co plans a 40000 dollar super service station at the southeast corner of the Lorillard tract on Central Avenue and Charles Street. The project is approved by City Commissioner Frank Ludewig. The site on a full city block is owned by the Barnitz Fund with Mid west Park Development Co holding an option. Bids are due soon for a 157 by 157 foot station, not affecting plans for a new Middletown post office.

Chanter of WCTU Sets Sewing Day
Chanter of the WCTU plans a sewing work day November 16 at the First Church of God 409 Crawford Street to benefit Veterans Hospitals at Chillicothe and Sandusky. The chapter also will send Christmas boxes to veterans. Officers were installed in the Keys of Service ceremony at the First Fran gelical United Brethren Church with Mrs C H Armitage as president and others serving as officers and department directors. Members adopted Double Doim 62 as the chapter slogan and several officers will attend the state WCTU convention in Columbus October 24 7.

Arson Suspected In Blaze At Old Wayne School
Firemen suspect arson in a midnight blaze that destroyed the abandoned Wayne Local School No. 10 on Earl Rye farm five miles southeast of Waynesville. The roof caved in as investigators, led by assistant chief Charles LeMay, probe possible deliberate starting or carelessness. $1,500 loss.
