Education Divides by Class in Pre-Revolutionary America
Donna Tyson explains at the Critique Literary Society that before the Revolution upper class children attended Latin Grammar schools while lower class pupils went to apprenticeship schools. Harvard, founded in 1636 by John Harvard, aimed to educate ministers. The gathering, hosted by Mrs. Mildred Wilson at 35 Indiana St., Monroe, featured Mrs. Ethel Johnson as a guest. Next meeting set for November 21 at Mrs. Florence Powell’s Otterbein Retirement Village home.
