Hollywood youth face heightened drug risk as stories of Diane Linkletter and Stirling Silliphant’s son spotlight dangers. Beverly Hills police say access to dope comes mainly from peers. Famous families may worsen pressures through name and lifestyle, fueling experimentation. Kent Lane, Rhonda Fleming’s son, acknowledged marijuana and LSD use in past years and now moves forward.

Duelist Gets Year in the 1872 Dueling Case
A 27 year old man, Douglas Pirtle, was sentenced to one year in jail after pleading guilty to a 1872 dueling statute. He admitted going for his .22 pistol after an argument with Joe King, who died of chest wounds outside an East Palo Alto bar last June. King used a .38 but misfired. The judge said Pirtle had no right to execute.
