In Washington a first round of talks produced good progress as Egypt and Israel press to finish a treaty within two months outlining Israeli withdrawal from Sinai security measures and diplomatic exchanges. A second round was scheduled with Sunday sessions likely. President Carter invited other Arab states and Palestinians to join to address Palestinian concerns and counter Camp David critics.
