The Ohio Board of Education joined the campaign against repealing the state income tax. The move adds to growing opposition from educational officials to overturn the new tax law.
The British Army captured Cornelius McHugh aka the Bald Eagle the seventh high ranking Provisional IRA leader seized since July. In Belfast operations troops also reported IRA casualties and seized weapons ammunition and explosives while a small boy threw a bomb at an armored car with no damage. Henry Kissinger extended his third day of talks with North Vietnamese negotiators in Paris and later met French Foreign Minister Maurice Schumann with Arthur Watson. Forecasters predict clear skies tonight and tomorrow with a slight rise in temperatures. A cooler day is expected Thursday with a chance of showers as a new front moves through. Yesterday’s high reached 60 and the overnight low was 36 with scattered frost in the Middletown area.

Mau rice Stans, chief fund raiser for President Nixon, says the campaign needs at least $9 million more in contributions. He denied stories claiming contributors should give to Senate campaigns and said funds are directed to Senate and House candidates only when asked.
