Bicentennial climbers reach Everest peak without flags

Dr. Chris Chandler and partner reached Everest summit at 29,028 feet but reportedly forgot to carry the U S and Nepal flags as they topped the southeast ridge route. They spent about 30 minutes on the summit before descending to Camp 6 and were in good health.

Chance for pardon in Alabama for Scottsboro boy Norris

Clarence Norris, last surviving Scottsboro defendant, must choose between returning to Alabama for jail and a pardon or remaining a fugitive in New York.
