Deaf mute survives three days in elevator shaft in Seattle
Joseph Heller 33, deaf mute, spent three days at the bottom of an elevator shaft after a fall in a mostly vacant warehouse. He crawled and beat on a door with a wooden stick to seek help, and was found by a passerby who thought he’d been mugged. Doctors say facial bones shattered, multiple fractures, and infection. he expects a six week recovery with wires holding his face.
