Hail Insurance Payout Reaches 126.8 Million in 1969
DES MOINES Iowa reports that crop hail insurance premiums totaled 126.8 million in 1969, down 1.6 million from the prior year. The nationwide volume written reached 3.55 billion, a record high for the eighth straight year and double the 1953 total.

Legislator Burden Loses Bid to Appeal Primary
Ohio Supreme Court refused to hear Rep. Edward B. Burden's challenge to irregularities claimed against the Hamilton County Board of Elections in the May 5 primary. Burden, a Cincinnati Democrat, lost the race to James W. Rankin by 146 votes. He argued undersupplied ballots at many polling places. the lower court had dismissed his appeal. Burden was appointed in 1969 to fill the seat vacated by William F. Bowen, who moved to the state senate after Calvin Johnson resigned.
