City Adds Six Public Employees Under Emergency Act
The city will gain six more employees funded by the Emergency Employment Act of 1971. City Manager Dale Hessel said Gov. Gilligan notified of $50,000 in extra federal funds via the state. Butler County previously approved 27 jobs in two grants, with 12 and 17 positions requested. The program seeks 150,000 public sector jobs. the city must apply by next Tuesday for the approved site grant. Positions are in early labor roles with possible one year health and welfare projects. If not funded for a second year, jobs may be dissolved. The effort is a step toward reducing unemployment, not a full solution.
