Senate Faction Seeks Delay Pay Hike Vetoed
Washington AP The House defeated a veto of a six month delay in federal pay raises by 207 to 174. Senator Moss Utah said he would push a similar delay in the Senate as Nixon warned the move could derail inflation combat plans. House Republicans and most Southern Democrats backed the delay but Speaker Albert framed the issue as aligning public and private workers.
