U S District Judge Arthur Mellett withdrew a one year and one day prison sentence for Dr. Raph T. McCreight Ness City Kansas who pleaded guilty to evading 24205 in income taxes for 1948 through 1951. The judge kept the $20000 fine and required settlement with the Internal Revenue Department citing doctor shortage in the area.
Jane Harding 25, daughter of actress Ann Harding and Alfred P Otto Jr of Piedmont California, married yesterday in a San Francisco church ceremony attended by the bride’s mother and stepfather conductor Werner Janssen. Otto is a stock broker.
Charles Atchley a 28 year old Maryville Tenn painter was convicted of second degree murder in Cincinnati for the May 10 shooting of his divorced wife Evelyn Noe. A Hamilton County jury returned the verdict and the judge reserved sentence.
The forecast calls for cold but pleasant conditions today with a high of 35 and a low of 22. Friday turns cloudy with likely rain or snow, while Thanksgiving should be generally fair though with some tonight cloudiness. The Wednesday high reached 65 with a 24 degree morning low.
