Seventy five inmates at the Queens House of Detention faced 25 days of solitary confinement after refusing to return to cells to watch the final hour of The Godfather. Another 425 inmates complied and returned by 11 pm Tuesday.
Police brace for a second wild day as about 100 demonstrators were injured in street clashes during the Shah of Iran's state visit. Protests planned at multiple sites around Washington after talks with President Carter. The shah will attend Mondale hosted luncheon and a Capitol Hill meeting with the House International Relations Committee.
Demonstrators from rival factions gathered near the White House as the shah and Empress Farah prepared to depart Andrews Air Force Base for Paris.
