The House intelligence committee approved three contempt citations against Secretary of State Kissinger, risking up to three years in jail and a $3,000 fine. Kissinger blasted the vote saying Ford invoked executive privilege over sensitive subpoenaed documents.
Fenwick High loses to Newark Catholic 34-6 in the Class A state playoff semi finals ending an 11 game winning streak. Newark Catholic advances after beating Fenwick in the rematch.
Fenwick and the Falcons met in a playoff game with Fenwick making an unprecedented fourth straight playoff appearance. The Falcons, after back-to-back titles in 1973 and last year, remain the only team to win two state titles, and earned a spot in next Saturday’s Akron final after the 11-0 victory. Coach Harkrader praised the team effort while Fenwick coach called it a hard fought loss to a better squad.
Sacramento AP reports President Ford’s videotaped testimony in Lynette Fromme’s trial was favorable to her defense against an attempt to kill him. Ford described a bright dressed woman pushing through the crowd with a weapon visible in the first row. He could not recall a gun click and did not hear her speak.
The Ohio Supreme Court agreed to hear a Montgomery County doctor's appeal over whether the creation of life, even by accident, can be deemed wrongful and punishable by the courts. The case centers on a lower court ruling surrounding a medical act and its consequences.
President Ford signed a 30 day extension of federal oil price controls at Andrews Air Force Base to gain time for studying a long range energy plan. Congress and Ford moved quickly to approve the extension as price controls were set to expire midnight. Ford flew to Paris after a day in Atlanta and North Carolina.

Olaf Larson 71, a retired Navy repairman, robbed Seattle First National Bank on Oct 10 with a water pistol for about 300 in 20s after debts. A grocery clerk noted his license plate. police found him two days later at his mobile home. The U S attorney said it likely won’t pursue trial.
