Tibet seeks United Nations aid to repel Chinese Communists but no member will sponsor the plea in the Security Council. Tibet is not a U.N. member and cannot present directly. India and Nationalist China view Tibet as part of China and call it a civil war, not UN jurisdiction. Both oppose Red use of force against the 3,000,000 in the mountains.
Bell telephone workers clashed with police in West Philadelphia for 45 minutes to stop Bell operators from reporting to work at Trinity Exchange. Police aided a successful entry by seven strikers, who were later arrested during the confrontation.
Painesville Mansfield and Ashtabula saw picket lines at Ohio Bell Telephone Company offices with long distance service shifted to an emergency basis as protests continued. The jury recommended leniency and sentence was set for Monday November 20 at 9 30 am. The trio said they would make restitution for all money taken. Orr and Corrigan faced grand larceny charges while McNabb was charged with aiding the two counting room employees in smuggling rolls of quarters out of the building in her brassiere.
