American and British planes continued the Berlin supply route today despite a Russian warning to force down aircraft outside designated 20 mile corridors. General Lucius D. Clay pledged we will keep them flying as allies warned Moscow to be responsible for any action.
In Frankfurt the Allied zones prepared a 24 hour general strike aimed at 12 million workers to protest high prices. The bizonal council expects 13.5 million workers in the area to participate, with exemptions for rail, post, health, and key civil servants. Berlin airlift faces no interference.
President Truman, at Key West, monitors Russian maneuvers around blockaded Berlin via State Department advices. He designates Major General Vaughan to represent him at Armistice Day ceremonies as talks continue on easing U S Soviet tensions. No plans for a Truman Stalin meeting or Moscow trip are announced.
At Portland Maine the National Grange plans heavy opposition to a proposed revision of long standing farm price support law. Grange leaders expect President Truman and the Agriculture Department to oppose the change and note Rep Cooley NC will chair the House Agriculture Committee. The plan seeks parity reform and a flexible support system set for 1940. Albert S. Goss voices Grange stance against revision.
Baltimore weather surprised residents with a 72 degree afternoon just before a snow shower at 7 p.m. The day began mild for November 10, nearing the all time high, then shifted to wintry conditions with a forecast of freezing temperatures tonight.
Longshoremen across the East and West coasts halted work paralyzing New York Philadelphia Boston and other ports. Thousands joined the walkout protesting a wage settlement negotiated by AFL leaders. Ship traffic and Marshall plan cargoes faced disruption as inspectors reported dozens of vessels idle or idle.
Theresa Catherine Toster an 18 year old University of Colorado student vanished after leaving a Newman Club meeting authorities found her blood stained scarf and a serpent shaped ring two miles northwest near pools of blood snow prevented a longer search. Parts of a .45 caliber pistol were found at the scene and investigators believe she was restrained and dragged to a car trunk.

A mother watched flames engulf the Freeman home in West Alexandria as two infants died from the blaze. MOSCOW AP reports the Soviet government is negotiating trade pacts with five foreign nations. Delegations from Poland and Finland arrived yesterday, with Italy having been in Moscow for months. Yugoslavia and Bulgaria are newer arrivals.
AP dispatches describe a major Sino Communist clash along the Suchow line with government troops holding a slight edge as Mao era forces bring in reinforcements. Separate Tokyo reports cite a war crimes tribunal naming 25 Japanese leaders, including Tojo, with atrocity death estimates and Abe abdication rumors linked to Emperor Hirohito.
An enterprising young man stole a big Eighth Ave bus from a transit garage and roamed its route collecting fares. He side swiped a taxi near 42nd St and, after continuing, crashed into another taxi and overturned it at 2 am. The driver escaped into a subway station. no injuries reported. Authorities recovered the bus later.
Hollywood AP report shows NBC and CBS in a high stakes bid for Benny with NBC rumored at four million while CBS shifts talent under William Paley. Amos n Andy move to CBS sparks tax and contract chatter as both nets deploy top stars to capture the lead in radio.
