USSR Rejects New US Mideast Plan

Soviet sources say the American draft requires both Israel and the Arabs to take steps, but Moscow objects it favors Arabs less than a prior draft from six nations. It remains unclear if Washington will modify or withdraw the plan. A British spokesman as to whether the council will meet this week. The plan calls for Israeli withdrawal and for Arab recognition of the state of Israel while sending a UN envoy to mediate.
