Court Denies Hearing on Jackson School Segregation
The Supreme Court refused to hear Jackson Mississippi school officials challenging racial segregation in education. The appeal followed a New Orleans Circuit Court ruling that rejected the claim that innate racial differences justify segregated schooling. The circuit court had commented that such cases tax the patience of the court, while Jackson parents had secured an order for schools to operate without regard to pupils' races.
