In a Bicentennial year remembrance, Joseph Green, veteran of the Revolutionary War, lies in Dick's Creek Cemetery on Union Road east of I 75. A weathered marker and a small American flag mark his grave as neighbors’ stones crumble nearby.
Gene Lindley runs State Line Truck Stop in Eaton Ohio and dominates Ohio lottery sales with 1975 tickets totaling 480801 and 23540 in commission. In early 1976 the operation moved 166625 in tickets, aided by Indiana traffic and cross country customers. Fortner of Richmond Ind won Buckeye 1000 per month for life from tickets sold there.
A special memorial at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Middletown honors the Dead of All Wars. The ceremony starts at 2 p.m. and emphasizes the town’s Revolutionary heritage anchored by the cemetery’s long history.
A Cambridge girl and two Elyria area children died in predawn house fires. Joseph Gilfillen 49 Patricia Gilfillen 49 and David 12 died in one blaze. Charlotte Starcher 10 was killed in another fire. Father Charles Starcher 35 hospitalised with severe burns. other children treated. Firefighters were affected by smoke inhalation.

He observes crumbling ceilings, vandalized halls, and missing copper as National Park Service guides lead hour long tours through October 30, highlighting a site once home to hope now marked by neglect.
General William C. Westmoreland, retired U.S. forces commander in Vietnam, calls the war an American failure and urges understanding why it failed. He speaks at Memorial Day ceremonies in Butler County near Trenton and discusses his book and current military issues.
