The Gates of the Forest by Elie Wiesel review
A critical look at Elie Wiesel’s The Gates of the Forest, a blending of ancient legend and modern horror. It follows Gregor, a Jewish boy in Hungary during World War II, who flees pogroms to caves and villages, then crosses into Romania with partisans, betrays a friend, and confronts postwar guilt in a dense allegorical narrative.
