Lakes Prepare for Summer Recreation Season in Louisville District
The Louisville District U.S. Army Corps of Engineers says Memorial Day marks the start of the lakes recreation season across Kentucky and Indiana with 13.4 million visitors last year. Indiana lakes are run by the state under lease with the Corps, while Kentucky sites are jointly operated with the Commonwealth and local entities, except Cave Run and Nolin Lakes. The system offers everything from day use areas to deluxe Green River Lake with electric hookups, and overnight stays incur fees except primitive sites.
