U S Jets Hit Haiphong Targets in Vietnam Raids

U S forces launched new assaults near the South Vietnam border and attacked North Vietnam MIG bases and a Haiphong power plant as the raids continued. The strikes aimed to disrupt enemy positions and equipment amid ongoing combat operations.

Pay check tiny after deductions at Memphis RCA plant

Mrs. Jack K. Guess received a 12 minute pay check of 38 cents from the Radio Corp of America plant in Memphis. Deductions totaled 37 cents for the local United Givers Fund and Social Security after she was sent home on doctor orders following a May 12 auto accident.

Viet Nam War Action Escalates With Heavy Fighting

Friction rises as U S Marines and North Vietnamese troops clash near Hill 117 inside the DMZ. Reports say 41 Reds killed, 14 Americans dead, 102 wounded. In Da Nang area heavy contact continues with about 1,000 Marines facing equal forces. Multiple air strikes target Kep and Hoa Lac airfields and a SAM base near Hanoi with several buildings damaged.

Lilacs On The Stage In Juda High School Graduation

Juda Wisconsin held a somber commencement as nine deceased seniors from Juda High were honored alongside 26 survivors. Diplomas went to 19 boys and 7 girls, while mourners placed lilacs on the stage and at gravesites for Nelva Smith and the other victims of the New Orleans crash.

Firemen Battle Cable Blaze in Downtown Cincinnati

A 13,200-volt cable break on the Chesapeake and Ohio bridge cut power to downtown Cincinnati. Fire crews fought a blaze in control cables in ducts while CG&E reduced service to the core area to allow water suppression.
