Plainfield police say Lorelle Parks 22 and Joseph Maxey 23 admitted involvement in the rape slayings of two women, with Parks alleging he strangled Mrs Tyson while Maxey killed Mrs Ewell. Both suspects were to be arraigned at 5 p.m. Authorities traced them after a taxi driver and a Scotch Plains officer led to their capture, and the victims Mrs Elliott C. Ewell of Westfield and Mrs Robert Tyson of Plainfield were found in a Cadillac.
