AP dispatch from Puerto Montt Chile describes a long line of women children and some men awaiting typhoid vaccines and milk powder after a devastating earthquake. Volunteers from Red Cross distribute aid as hospitals remain destroyed and 30 to 40 people are dead with 70 missing and 300 homeless.
In Madawaska Maine a car plowed into a high school band parade injuring thirteen people. Gov John H Reed witnessed the scene as twelve children were hurt and three dragged beneath the vehicle. Bandmaster Edward Murphy and eight others were hospitalized. driver George Pelletier 62 faced drunken driving charges.
A high pressure system moves into the Miami Valley chasing rain with sunny weather expected through Sunday. Today will be partly cloudy and cool with a high near 75.
