Clear cool weather is forecast tonight with temperatures in the 40s. Tomorrow will be mostly sunny with highs in the upper 70s and near zero chances of rain. The official high yesterday reached 70 in Middle Town and this morning’s low was 44.
In Beirut and eastern Lebanon nights of heavy shelling left at least 44 dead and 77 wounded as factions clash. Syrian and Lebanese sources say Suleiman Franjieh offers to resign to aid Elias Sarkis peacemaking, with Franjieh stating he can hand power over whenever Sarkis asks. Franjieh’s departure remains a key demand in talks ahead of his September term expiry.

Carter extends his Democratic delegate lead with wins in Arkansas Kentucky and Tennessee while California governor Brown wins Nevada. Reagan gains 20 delegates overall but trails Ford and Carter in total delegates. Church takes Oregon Idaho and challenges Carter in overall momentum.
Voting totals from Ford Reagan and Democratic candidates across Tennessee Kentucky Arizona Arkansas Idaho Nevada and more show Ford and Reagan leading in Republican contests while Carter leads Democratic races with multiple delegates. Notable figures include Ford 50 percent Tennessee and Carter 78 percent in Democratic Tennessee with 36 delegates.
