Probe of Air Force Purchasing Sought

Representative Van Zandt pressed for a House investigation into Air Force contracts claiming unusually large awards went to Consolidated, a firm once directed by Defense Secretary Johnson. He cited postwar cutbacks since 1945 and alleged cancelled orders to fund big buys including 75 B 36 Bombers. Johnson offered information to the Senate panel, while Vinson urged Johnson be given a full hearing.

Moose Lodge Meeting Changes and Initiations

Members voted to move weekly meetings to Thursday evenings. Twelve new candidates were initiated by Middletown degree staff and six new applications were accepted. In legal matters, the Court of Common Pleas in Butler County, Ohio, will hear the petition of The People’s Missionary Baptist Church to convey numbered lots 3265 and 3266 in Middletown on June 13, 1949 at 10:00 A.M.
