Four Year Term Bill Faces House Debate In Ohio
In Columbus Republicans push a four year term for state officials and lawmakers, linking it to a constitutional amendment. Senate approved a longer term but House members voiced objections to presidential election year runs and possible effects on Gov. Lausche. Sub committees study proposals while Speaker Saxbe and Rep. Berry indicated cautious consideration with votes unlikely this week. Other measures include pay equity, rail and utility assessment boosts, and creation of an Ohio Legislative Service Commission.
