Couple of tax sale buyers return bedridden man's home
In Melbourne Florida the man who bought Vincent Cattee's $11 000 house for 15 dollars plus costs at tax sale agreed to give it back after Cecil Platt who bought delinquent drainage tax certificates for 2 dollars on the same property and 23 others assured Cattee would keep his home. Cattee's wife Gradie Mae, who says her husband has cancer and has endured multiple brain tumor operations, praised Platt's action. Brevard County officials Barnaby Rudy Underdown and Clark Maxwell urged a law to combine special and district taxes into one bill to avert tragedies like this.
