Posed As Police Extortion Ring Busted in Dayton
Dayton authorities say three men posed as police officers to extort from a local businessman and nabbed with a telegraphed nationwide scheme. Robert Schwartz 23 of Belmar New Jersey William Ryan 45 of Chicago and Louis Kocuszek 48 of Carlyle Illinois were arrested for blackmail impersonating a police officer and kidnapping. In a hotel room raid officers found police credentials handcuffs warrants police shirts hats and lieutenant bars and evidence of other city operations. The case began when the businessman agreed to pay 5000 of a demanded 10009 and was driven to a bank to fetch the money before family members intervened and helped detain the suspects.
