Ohio Republicans Stall Over Budget Plan In Ohio House
Ohio House Republicans emerged from a five hour caucus no closer to Gov. Gilligan's 9.1 billion budget. Speaker Kurfess said the group favored examining welfare programs and expenditures while leaning toward a county mandated income tax for revenue, with plans for modest expenditure increases and further welfare cuts. The debate mirrored earlier doubts about tax schemes and the governor's proposals as leaders urged votes on the budget.
