City’s leakage study to curb unmetered water losses
City officials hire Pitometer Associates of New York for 36500 to locate unmetered water within 400 miles of mains. The 1948- era pipes cause holes from corrosion, with 35.3 percent unmetered in 1976. Hydrants and fire lines may account for some losses while large industrial users will be checked for unauthorized use.

Pressure drop hits Springboro as water tower runs dry
High elevation areas along Pennyroyal Road suffered the loss of water pressure around 9 30 p m last night. Springboro officials suspect a main break in the line from village pumps under the Great Miami River. The 250 000 gallon tower near I 75 was empty but pumps were working. The city switched to Franklin water and later returned to its own pumps as the tower refilled. Crews will continue checks to locate the cause.
