The Supreme Court ruled 7 to 1 that reporting heated public debates and using terms like hyperbole or even blackmail in connection with a public figure at a public meeting is protected by the First Amendment. The decision reversed a $17,500 libel judgment against Greenbelt News-Review, while Justice White dissented on the breadth of immunity.
