United States officials say retreat of anti communist forces from Plaine des Jarres in Laos does not by itself change control of the Southeast Asian kingdom. They caution the move is not decisive in the broader struggle with communist influence in the region.

The 10500 ton freighter Pomona arrived in Honolulu with flags at half mast after Capt. Jacob Natvig 51 was found dead in his cabin. First Mate Alf Olsen 35 said Natvig was struck behind the right ear by an ax from outside the cabin. Police, acting on a Norwegian inquiry, said the crew of 26 includes Norwegians.
Los Angeles AP report says Rockefeller campaign leaders wooed supporters of other Republican moderates to join Lodge camp backing Gov. Nelson Rockefeller in California's June 2 presidential primary. Lodge supporters urged backing Rockefeller as the draft for Lodge was pushed.
Spotty early turnout marked Maryland's Democratic presidential primary amid Civil Rights issues and Wallace campaigning. Sen. Brewster predicted victory for the Johnson side, filing as a favorite son to secure Maryland's 48 convention votes for the Johnson camp.
State Democratic Chairman Harry Gross conceded Wallace 25 to percent of the vote but said the governor has no chance. Wallace previously captured 33.7 percent in Wisconsin and 29.8 percent in Indiana against Welsh. Reynolds and Weiss, like Brewster, were pledged to Johnson.
The Rockefeller Lodge pact follows Rockefeller's Oregon primary win as the Lodge faction backs Rockefeller in California's eight GOP national convention delegates. Chicago AP reports Dora and Chester Fronczak mark their second wedding anniversary without joy or celebration as their abducted son remains missing. They live in a small top-floor apartment after their wedding. their first child was born June 1, 1963.
The Fronczaks recount the April 27 abduction of their second son after a woman in white posing as a nurse took the infant from his mother at the hospital. Fronczak, 33, has not returned to work since the incident, and the couple remains hopeful the baby will be returned. His wife, 26, remains under doctors care.
Os ler OSLO authorities report a four pound explosive parcel found near the house designated for Soviet Premier Khrushchev during his upcoming visit to Norway. An intruder was spotted on the grounds as officials investigated the incident.
