Guatemalan housing plan seen as anti communist effort
William F. Luce has funded 4,000 Guatemalans into concrete brick homes with tile floors, offering 3 rooms, yard space, and ownership rights. Costs are $640 to $700 including utilities, with $100 down and about $16 monthly for four years. Luce aims to curb communism by giving people secure homes, with 600 homes built and 50 more monthly. He reports profits from other ventures, and U S aid has partly followed a Honduras project after initial US indifference.
